Just thought I'd share how I successfully cleaned our dinette/couch foam and fabric. I removed the zippered fabric (Midnight Sun) and carefully washed it in cold water with Ivory Snow on the delicate cycle. I made sure they were securely zipped back up before washing (important!). On the first rinse cycle, I added about a cup of white distilled vinegar, then rinsed again in fresh water and hung outside ( it was a beautiful, breezy and low-humidity day). In the meantime, I used Ivory Snow again and my bathtub to clean the foam. I half-filled the tub with cold water and a half-lid of detergent, then stepped in and squished the foam with my feet (like making wine with grapes)! Turn over (carefully - the foam is now very heavy!) and repeat. Rinse, squish, rinse again with vinegar twice at least. The vinegar helps remove the soap and the odors as well. Carry outside and dry in the sun. Voila! Freshened, odor-free cushions!
We did all this because the inside of our 2006 was smelling musty after the long, hot Florida summer, even though we vent her and use Damp-rid. I personally hate the smell of musty campers! And since we bought our AS used, I wanted to do more than Febreze.
I hope this helps anyone who is also dealing with older cushions and upholstery. Some day, we'll probably replace both, but in the meantime... I can better enjoy hanging out in Aggie.
