Cleaning interior walls

For whatever it's worth, I'm in the process of remodeling the interior of our 2001 30' Excella. I've removed the cabinets, installed the new floor, and looking at this damned mouse hair, or whatever it's called, decided it needed to be cleaned.
After trying most if not all of the ideas I've seen on here, and none of it worked, decided to call Stanley Steamer.
They sent out a truck, we tried an area that won't be visible when everything is put back together. It came out, looking like new! So, we decided to have him clean the interior walls, and Scotchgard them.
The walls are slightly damp, so I turned on the A/C to help dry it out sooner. After drying, it looks even better. It would be hard to tell from new.
For a grade total of $142.00 including the Scotchgard, it is a pretty good investment....

Larry, I did mine with the upholstery tool of a Bissell carpet cleaner. It also did a great job. For that price, I won't do it myself again!

And yes, mwernke, the fuzzy carpet-like wall covering is classically called mouse fur. I have no idea where the term came from but everyone calls it that.

The official name of the mouse fur is Ozite. Here is a thread about the stuff: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f39/...ur-120165.html

I found some real mouse fur today, cleaning out our new-to-us '82 Excella. The live mouse was inside the carpet I tore out. Gross!

...well I'm just glad they don't dig a hole and bury it.

I know this is an older thread, but hope you can tell me how bad your walls were. We've taken out the dinette and couch and our mouse fur is really dark/dirty in areas. Before we call Stanley for a date, do you think there's any hope?
Thanks!

The walls were not what I would consider filthy, but areas around light switchs, etc did show more dirt. There were also stains around the street side front window, where condensation ran down the wall.
These stains came out just fine. I might add that when they were finished, there was a fresh citrus like smell to the interior. Also, with the ScotchGard, helps with cleaning later.

I used them too. Could not get the black aluminum rivet spots out, but all else was great. I would use them again.

One thing MDW suggested is something her quilting buddies use is an art gum eraser. Rub it one the spot and then vacuum it off. It does not remove the grey completely but it sure does reduce it.
