Cleaning Curtains

I want to wash my curtains. I have done this on my 73, and my 71. Both of those had the backing on the curtains. If allowed to dry they stuck together, and they are ruined. I hung them while wet with no problem.

Now I want to clean them on my new to us 1986 soveriegn. These curtains do not have the backing, but I dont want to trash them cuz I want to do the interior at once.

Has anyone cleaned this type of curtain?? Maybe woolite on delicate??
Noo dryer?? hang wet??

Any input/experiences would be great,

curtains

If they're lined curtains, I've washed them from a 74 on delicate, and hung to dry. They turned out fine. In fact I'm still using them 6 yrs later. (washed several more times, as well! Good luck.

I had pretty good luck with my curtains, with exception to one set, which disintegrated in the washer, even though it was on delicate cycle in a clothing bag. It was from the front window, which must have faced the sun most often. I would hand wash anything that looks weaker or thinner on close inspection.

I do apreciate the input. That is a good bit of info. and I like the idea of the clothing bag. That would keep the plastic connectors from getting cought in the agitator.

This unit traveled the southern states, and although the windows are tinted dark, there is still considerable fading on the carpet. The drapes still look fine though, and they have shdes also.

My better half is going to start with the bedroom cutains first incase they come apart. I will let you all know how it goes for her.
