Camouflage panels
Hi
We are redoing the upholstered panels in our AS and want to establish an outdoors/ woodland theme. We are thinking of using realtree camo Advantage Timber ® | Realtree ® as the fabric or some type of print that has the outdoors theme. Has anyone tried the camoflage look? Mrs is afraid AS will look too much like a hunting lodge. I promised no moosehead mountings but she is still reticent.

Notice of Intent
I'm sorry tvanwave, but as Chairman of the airforums.com Decorating Committee, we regret to inform you that your Airstream will be impounded should you show further signs of decorating the interior of your trailer in an unseemly style such as the one you mentioned.

I'm a hunter and might like the Realtree camo pattern; however, the Mrs. would not be impressed...but that is the beauty of restoring our Airstreams...do what we like. When we replaced the panels in our "78", I went to Lowes and picked up 1/2" insulating foam sheets, covered with our fabric, and then used 3" double-faced velcro tape on the back of the foam board. It looks great, was easy to mount, and adds some insulation to the side walls.

Looks like I'm not earning the endorsment of the airforum for my stellar decor idea. No wonder I'm left with the other work like floor, plumbing, and all general repair. This camo is REALLY nice Alternatives so far are bitsy pine cones, bigger pine cones, and baby blanket bambi. Not good.
I suppose I could resurrect my wood buring kit from boy scouts and burn some outdoor scenes into the plywood panel backing.
I remain hopeful, however, someone in AIR land shares my vision and pursuit of natural beauty.

Perhaps you and the Mrs might like something like this by Craig Dorsey?

Perhaps it's the pattern. Instead of Realtree, why don't you get her something in Mossy Oak to win her over?
Let us know how this works out.

Aw, c'mon, you KNOW we're just kidding you, tvanwave!
Heck, Roadrunner has li'l graphics of palm trees, (or are they marijuana plants?) in his sleeping area, while Vaughn is showing you fancy ladies' camo lingerie. I gotta admit, the camo bra has that certain "je ne sais quoi" about it, Vaughn
You go right ahead and put whatever YOU like. You're the ones that are going to live in it, right?

In the interest of good taste, I skipped linking to the camo thong.

What the Mrs. Will Like
Well here you have it...you can have a feel of the great outdoors and know that you will sleep safely in the comfort of your camo orange...and think how easy it will be to decorate for Halloween!

Our friends Luke and Donna did this in their Caravel and I loved how it looked. Very cozy and fun.

Where is that Adirondack trailer thread and pictures? Maybe we can divert this threads subject in a different direction.

Why Not??
You can use almost anything in fashion/decor if you balance all the elements.
So, if you love camo - go camo!
A couple of ideas:
Make the Camo elements accents rather than the main theme.
Use a neutral base for the cushions like Khaki or Olive.
Then use a bright accent color like orange in very small doses.
Pull in some leather pillows or cabinet pulls.
Use something metallic - brass or bronze to give it a little reflective quality inside too.
This could be very sophisticated and cool.
Get some fashion mags and look at how the fashion pros do it.
OK, I know this seems a bit of an atypical post but hey - It's something I know a little about. And.......what is more fashionable than an Airstream?

You said it! I like your idea. I wanted red in my AS so we did small splashes of red throughout and when I'm tired of it it's easy to change. Bass Pro shops has a ton of camo decor!

Very nice and closer to what we want. Any info on where they obtained their fabric?

Yes, And I don't mind being razzed. I have a good sence of humor but should have used an emoticon to make sure people on the forum knew I was OK w/ the responses. My wife thinks i'm decorating-chalenged and she is right
