brushed aluminum or stainless

Been thinking about replacing of some of my fake wood interior panels with metal. Has anyone tried hand sanding or wiring brushing aluminum or stainless steel to get a different look? I like the panels in the new QuikSilver, but I don't have the bucks to buy those from AirStream. Thanks, Don

You can buy brushed finish (either stainless or aluminum) from most sheet metal suppliers. Still not cheap.

Check out the laminates at www.alsacorp.com

sold thru www.kustomrides.com

these are metal sheeting with a laminate quality that you apply, pre-glued. I have ordered some for my trailer.

We're planning to put Octolux, a sheet aluminum product over some of our vertical walls and using it as replacement fridge panels. The sheet material comes in a wide array of finishes including satin, brushed and mirror. There is also an excellent Stainless brushed panel as well. Being in the sign business, we use this stuff all the time.

I ordered samples of softmetal a thick pre-glued metallic applique that can be used on appliances and etc. I tried the sample on the wall, and it just wasn 't quite shiny enough for me, looking like metallic duct tape. I have ordered another sample of their "embossed steel" and aluminum type to try them. The brushed stainless was not what I expected.

Another great site is www.Chemetal.com who have great aluminum finished and other laminates.

I looked at the Octolux web site, wow that looks great! Where can you buy this stuff and is it affordable for a small area like the living room walls of a trailer?

Octolux costs approx. $150 canadian. It comes in 4' x 8' sheets. The web site should tell you if its available in the US. The stuff is thin and can be gently curved or bent. It's also rigid enough to be inserted into changeable appliance panel frames. Our 20 year old dishwasher looks as spiffy as the high end stainless stove and fridge next to it. Hard to tell that its not real stainless. The other aluminum finishes are excellent too and we plan on using them throughout our AS.

Thumbs up

Not for the interior but check out posts, 467, 489, 493.
Wasn't easy but turned out pretty well I think.

See no reason it wouldn't work for you.
