Brittle plastic trim

The 40+ yr old plastic trim that runs on the outer edge of the interior aluminum panels and end caps is very brittle and has either fallen off or chipped in many places. What has everyone used as a replacement or alternative?

Supply sources and pictures appreciated!Click image for larger version

Krylon makes a paint specifically for plastics that does a pretty good job of protecting old plastic. I doubt it has a restorative effect but it definitely improves the look.

...and likely won’t regenerate the broken pieces )

I forgot to add that I plan to use Krylon to repaint the end caps and strip the vinyl down to the bare aluminum and leave it that way. So I’m looking for something that will visually look good with the aluminum.
