Question Back and forth, back and forth.....what 2 do???

Sitting on the fence on what I should do.

The original plan was to JUST replace the carpeting with with wood flooring. I have since pulled out all the drapes, kitchen cabinet and countertop, furnace, oven, curbside twin, curbside bulk heads, and the partition walls up to the bath on curbside. This was all done to get to the bath and hopefully epoxy the bath in place with out removing the tub, sink and surrounds.
NOW, I feel like I would just be doing myself and RIN TIN TIN a disservice if I dont go full on with my NEW "Cowboy Chic" plan replace all the cabinets, bulk heads and partitions with custom built pieces. My plan is NOT to sell but enjoy. .... an I don really have a timeline, I just want to enjoy the project. I guess what Im getting to is...What would you do? Im not planning to do the full on guy thing and replace all the insulation (not going that extreme) I say extreme cuz, I haven even used a rivit gun yet.
Thanks ALL in advance for all your suggestions

It's a slippery slope...isn't it!?

Sounds like you have a bad case of the "While I'm at it...I might as well <fill-in-the-blank>" disease!

Been there, done that...we didn't think we'd be doing as much as we did when we started either.

Slippery slope...have one foot dangling over the edge and one on a very rocky ledge... As "they" say its NOTHING but money...Right?

Well, you know, you can't take the money with you so you might as well have fun with it now! We've had many cases of "while we're at it" disease in our family. Seems to be a mutating virus that keeps coming back.

HAHAHA! I just emailed the PO of ours apologizing. We told them we were leaving the 31' as it was with a few small changes when we drove off. It is now gutted, polished and we are rebuilding the interior from scratch. Not sure if they would have sold it to us had they known but hopefully we can do it justice and make it last another 30 years or more.

Hi, do it how you want and enjoy it. As for the insulation deal; There is an old mechanic's saying: "The deeper you dig, the more you find." So if you don't want to find any more bad things, don't take any more things apart.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We really like your Airstream's name. Rin Tin Tin is a great name for an Airstream.

Thank You. RIN TIN TIN is fitting because I love dogs. It will no doubt have many four legged friends traveling with me....WHEN it actually moves from the driveway becomes the question

It started with the Fridge not working

and while we had that apart then it was the orange formica. Well might as well do the sink countertop too. While we're at it we should replace the faucet, and that missing tambour panel under the sink doesn't match... and so it begins...

yup....you got the disease..

You go girl! I can think of a lot worse obsessions (let's see, there's been the jewelry, the trips overseas, the additions to the house, the cars....

I've gotten to where I look at this as a legacy we're passing down thru the ages

well, it works for me!

Several years ago, we replaced the carpeting in our '83 Sovereign 31' with a parquet wood floor. It added a little weight so you may want to take that into consideration.

The floor looked beautiful and was very easy to keep clean.

We have since sold the '83 and replaced it with an '08 Safari Sport 22'. It has the new vinyl flooring. Since we like to camp near the ocean (beach) we would never want carpet again!

Good luck on the project.

When do you intend on putting it on the road to be used?
No need to answer really, use the "Ready-to-Roll" date to
help you determine HOW BIGA BITE YOU GONNA TAKE!

No real timeline. Ideally on the road late April. Who knows may be rolling with floors, a bathroom and an air matress :}

Throw in a table and chairs and an old couch and you have a great rolling tent

I agree with Kenneth, a cold AC makes just about everything else bearable!

Wait a minute!

Now did you write that you haven't used a RIVET GUN yet?

Let me say you're missing half of the adventure. I had my '74 Tradewind just three weeks before I was riveting. Don't be timid, it's really a lot of fun once you get a few under your belt.

You can't really be a true Airstreamer without popping a few rivets!

Best wishes!

Jim
