Accordian Door Replacement

I figured this was the best place to post this question:

Our accordian center door is missing. I have seen several pictures but never one in person. I was at my local Menards - a Home Depot type store, and saw a great plastic accordian door in several styles. It seems to me this would be a suitable replacement, but who can tell me what the original ones were really like?

Were they solid plastic, heavy vinyl, or what? Were they all white or different colors? I am considering going with the white as all the pictures I have seen appear to be white, as opposed to using one of the fake wood finishes that are available. I have walnut veneer cabinetry, so it is rather dark, but the vinyl interior is off white.

Any thoughts on the best replacement or should I just go with the one I found?

Thanks in advance,

tamara,

The original ones were a heavy vinyl with foam inserts so they blocked sound and light. Unless you are able to find one in a bone yard you are better off with a new one. I have seen the ones at the home centers and like the clean ability factor of the vinyl. I have yet to replace my mid coach door but am also looking for options. Let us know what you decide to get!

Thanks Brett,

I thought they might be as you describe them. I had initially planned to sew a replacement out of heavy fabric or vinyl and insert foam into pockets. After checking out the new plastic ones I will most likely just get one of those. The lighter weight ones are only about $25.00 and the heavier, stiffer ones are about $60.00. And they come in about six different styles and colors. If anyone wants one they are located in the door section of your local home center.

Once I get it installed, I will post a picture. I think they will be easy to install, easy to use, and easy to clean.

Thanks,
