84 Excella Upholstery Remodel

Just finished with reupholstering the inside. First time on a sewing machine but all in all it was a fun project. This is type where the couch back folds over the front to make a bed. It took my wife and I about a month of working an hour here or there at night. I can't wait to go camping in her now! It will be time to do the outside next.

Nice job! I like the wall covering used for the throw pillow. Nice detail.

I have been looking at my wall covering and envisioning something else there.

Really nice job. I have the same style where the back flips over, but the cushions are really thin and hard and it has buttons on the back and in the seat. Was yours thin? If so, how did you get it to plump up so nicely?

I needed to replace the old foam in the couch with new 4" High Density foam. The old stuff was too matted down so it gave me the oportunity to get rid of the three sections and make just one. On top of the foam I glued thick batting matterial to take the edges off the foam and give it a little extra cushion.

I purchased most of all the materials at JoAnne Fabric. The main material was on the discount rack for $6 per yd. If you save the coupons and go on Sundays you can get most items for 40% to 50% off also but you would have to have multipal trips. The foam was the most expensive part of all of it. If you are not in a hurry for fabric and look around you can find good deals.

Where did you learn to sew?
We have access to a machine and would like to try and learn how to make curtains some time.
