68 Globetrotter needs window treatment at kitchen sink

What kind of window treatment was at the kitchen window originally in a 68 Globetrotter? Right now there is a car window shade, but it doesn't completely cover the window. I'm making new curtains for the rest of the windows and need help with this.

There was a pull down shade with sides that attach to the snaps in the valance and the posts at the bottom. I will see if I can get a couple of photos tomorrow.

Mimi - When we got our '68 it had a curtain that matched the other curtains, except that it wasn't connected a the bottom with the little slider things. So it hangs away from the clightly curved wall. the bottom of our curtains was encased in a ziplock baggy b/c they were always getting wet.

When I remade our curtains, I took off the ktichen curtain, and left up the pull-down shade. Don't miss the curtain at all. What I would like to do is somehow etch the kitchen window, like you would a bathroom wiindow, for privacy.

IIRC, those are Corning windows, and are tempered. You may not want to etch it. I have seen "stick on frosting" that you can put oin the inside of the window.

When we got our Airstream, it had a pull down shade in really bad condition. I went to walmart and bought 2 small curtain rods and a curtain that I liked. I attached the top rod with rivets up inside the little plastic thing. I then cut the curtian to size, just long enough to make it tight at the bottom and used the holders for the shade at the bottom. It keeps the cutain tight against the window. I will see if i can find a picture, if not, I will take one tomorrow. FYI, did the same thing in the bathroom!

Pics of Original - and just not my fav having curtain material around a cook top or anything but a plane vynol blind to clean and does not mind getting wet.

I did have a nice fancy bottom rod that had stars on each end but during a bumpy ride with a bad axle it fell out and broke.

The little side valances where snapped to a wooden mount that was screwed into the walls. The top valance was covered in the curtain material. We stripped it and gave it cool MoonBeam Blue to match the curtains I had made for the rest of the windows.

Yes, the original was a Woolworth spring loaded pull down. I would get two curtain rails, one top, one bottom and a set of curtain sides and make something nice on your sewing machine to match the rest of your interior.

Our '68 had the traditional roller shade with snaps at the bottom. I think we still have it, but have purchased aluminum blinds for the windows, so that we can control light and privacy, but let the air in. I ordered them with "hold down" brackets at the bottom. I think we may have to add an extender to the crank for the window, to that it will extend through the blinds.
