27' Overlander Curtains- Ugh!

Hi-
I had all new curtains made for my 1969 27' overlander. Well, I had no idea that the bottom curtain tabs were the Holy Grail of hardware. I have the tabs for the top slides. Would it be easier just to replace the bottom track compatible with a more accessible tab? I only found 1 website that sells the tabs- they are out of stock and even if they had them, they were $1 a piece. Whew! Opinions please- or if anyone has come up with a creative solution to this problem let me know!
Thanks- Laurie

I saved all of the old curtains if anyone needs them for a template let me know

Sure Gary- thanks. This is the only place I can find them- and like I said, out of stock.

Silver Threads Custom RV Curtains - Home

My first thought is to try and replace them with the G Slides. Possibly even the Small Curtain Sliders adding a 1 1/2 or 2 inch by 3/8 elastic strip to each eyelet on those and sewing them on at the proper height to give them some tension. They may be prone to popping out of the track though depending on the width of the opening.

You may want to call Airstream and see if they can give you any advice on what to replace them with (or if they have the original carriers at a reasonable price - I don't recall seeing them when I ran up there to buy the tabs for my curtains but it's worth a shot)...

Above is a link to a Forum member who makes replacement curtains. She is a great resource also....

Anyone else dealt with this specific model problem...???

I am in almost the same boat with my '69 Safari. You can see the types of glides I have in this thread:

The hook type really don't slide well. For the front windshield I think I'm going to order new track and switch to T or G glides which seem to slide much easier. As far as those spring-contraptions you appear to have, I think it would be MUCH easier to simply change out the track to T or G. Forget about those $1 each glides!
