Are you prepping for your big appearance at balloon fiesta? Have not heard from you in a while, so I figured you were practicing/training and working out for your big event.

Ken,
Gee...and I could be home, up to my armpits or higher in snow, and here I am in Laughlin, comin' off of 3 1/2 months of Quartzsite desert in the winter...WHAT was I thinkin...?
Actually, two of our newest members are here-Bob&Lou- and they're really enthusiastic about being able to attend their first FCU rally...
I did show them my TIARA, and the bouquet of tootsie roll pops, and the silver thingie I hold in the hand that doesn't hold the bouquet(THANKS TO Ms Bam)...don't know exactly what the silver thingie is, but it DOES look REGAL, maybe even queeny...hope I didn't scare them off ...as for fine-tuning my performance...do you really think I need to do anything(besides provide all the bribes I promised)? I did receive a GREAT pink, oh wait, that's giving away a surprise...

Mike, maybe July?? The Albuquerque WX guessers are saying 10-20 in. for Silverton Wed-Thurs! Nothing like a dry warm La Nina winter.

Mr Howard,
I don't think I want to be in Ark, Tx, or in any state I have to drive thru to be in Silverton in July...It was 85 in Laughlin, yesterday, and I discovered that I still had sweat glands!!! If I understand it correctly, the cold weather is due to global warming ...George Carlin says it's not global warming...we're coming out of of an ice age

Mr Mike, July is one of the reasons we don't live in NE Oklahoma anymore and are now in Northern NM! Snowing outside right now. The BBC RSS feed had a story the other day on global warming. According to the report, average global temperatures have not increased since 1998. This was attrebuted to a persistant strong el Nina that has been causing global cooling, but when it ends, it will be time for more hand wringing.

Maybe Carlin and his hippy dippy weatherman from WINO got it right. We have been warming for the past 10,000 years or so.

Mr Howard,
Born in Tulsa, raised outside of Bartlesville...haven't forgotten...drug outta bed at What?:30 in the night to hide in the basement because of tornados
(or is that tornadoes?)...
There's always something to hand-wring about...like the loss of cheap Peeps!!!

Mike, we were in B'ville for 27 years. Enjoyed it but we had to ask ourselves why we were still there. It was at dark-30 in the morning watching the TV weather and radar with tornadoes ('naders) coming our way. Ah the freedom of being gainfully unemployed!

If you do get near the Santa Fe area on your way back to CO, we can find y'all a parking space for the MOHO.

Red Mountain Pass (north of Silverton) closed yesterday and today due to 36 inches of snow in the last 48 hours! i suspect that many of the campgrounds (and boondocking spots) listed here won't be open before mid-June at best due to this year's snowfall. BTW, I volunteer at the Durango BLM/USFS office.

Hey Denis

Thanks for the update! I can't speak for anyone else, but I assure you I am watching the snow levels with increasing anxiety. If the snow doesn't start melting soon, I have no idea what I will be doing in June.

Well since this area is in my back yard I tend to spend a lot of time in SW CO. If you have never been in this area before... You do not want to miss OURAY... There is a amazing Forest Service Camp ground that is above town with veiws that will make you want to stay past you 7 day rule.. Amazing hikes and did i forget to mention HOT SPRINGS... Great food... Fly fishing down stream about 10 min! Google OURAY and make it one of your nights!

As for the best fly fishing in the area... San Jaun River in Northern NM Is a very short trip away...www.fisheadsofthesanjuan.com
