Ghost towns anyone?

I turned around and found myself with the summer free. I have 2 green dogs, a fridge full of 35mm film, a freezer full of elk, a beater Hasselblad with a jammed back, tires full of air and yearning to spend time in the boondocks.

I spent the last 3 days pouring over ghost town places in Utah, Colorado, Nevada, the BLM site and trying to shrink my possessions to pack more pooch food and water.

I'm parked in closed NM Forest where I'm working at a kennel (Ruidoso), but thought I'd ask if anyone is up for a mini caravan or meeting at some out of the way places that would be great for dogs, hiking and photography?

I have a 4x5 camera in storage that I've never used and need a lens or two, and old Contax IIIa with a dead meter but classic lenses, and a Leica MP with some decent glass. Plus the beater 'blad.

This is the site that has bitten me: Ghost Towns | Hundreds of Pictures of ghost towns from Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho and Montana

It's interactive, showing sites on a map by county, many photos, directions, some weather info and wether 2WD or 4WD is required to enter (TTs never mentioned).

Anyone headed that way or want to think about a mini caravan?

Cheers-michael
