Airstream photo DSC00797 is interesting. Looks like the guy has enough solar panels on top to run street lights for y'all.
Solar is KING here.Lots of folk never have to run a gen. They use lots of batteries and lot of panels.Must be because the sun shines a LOT here. Right now in the winter there has to be 1/2 doz. places that sell and install solar panels. Some folks spend big $$$.
A quick run over is in the cards at some point. At this very moment I have a sick wife and a sick kid and they are trying their hardest to drag me down with them. I am tempted to just head over by myself to escape this house of disease and set up a 100 mile quarantine zone around Tucson. But then maybe I am already infected and the plague will spread, better just stay here and take care of the family.
You folks look like you are having a great time, I love reading the posts and look fondly at the pics. Seems like we might have to find a way to head over. Second annual Q-town desert rally, hmmm...
Well, solar is Queen in this little section, but I could be profiling(second to last pic...)
WISH YOU WERE HERE>>>???!!!
The second rally started about a week ago...it should continue, at least, until DH3...we're Tucson bound for a couple of days, but that shouldn't be a wrinkle...
Jimmini will be holding up the 4CU tradition.
I believe that ultraviolet rays destroy many forms of bacteria and virus organisms, so coming to Q-town is beneficial to all health in humanoid-type growth...
Another short, small(by 4CU standards), but very pleasant campfire tonight...no one joined me, but the engraved invitation is in the mail...
Such a busy day...morning ablutions( coffee being one), wipe the solar panels, check the battery terminals for corrosion, take out the trash, fix the screen door...the trials never end...I might have to get a REAL job...oh, that's right, I don't WANT one...
KICKING AND SCREAMING, THEY DRUG HIM BODILY THROUGH THE GATES OF EMPLOYMENT, FORCING HIM TO...FRY MCDONALDS HAMBURGERS...LIFE COULD BE WORSE...
As the Kleenex said to the toilet paper, "...so that's what I have to do...what about you?"...the view from early retirement is still a view worth looking at...
We'll be here for awhile...WHERE ARE YOU...???

This weekend I am being paid to go to a hotel on the bay in San Diego. My room will be paid for. I will get a generous per diem and my fuel will be paid for.
Why is it that I'd rather be heading for Q this weekend than being paid to vacation on the bay in San Diego?
Very interesting Jimmini!--wheres all the trees ? looks like there at a premium if you can even find one! Are some living there all year?---more please !!--thankyou-----jim[14 below last nite!]

This is Sonoran Desert with temps at 110+ in the summer so only the locals are here then.Q is a town that makes its living from the Interstate highway I-10 and US 95.(With winter visitors a BIG help also)It has 3650+ people.NO big box stores,No auto dealers,No supper market.Just good old Mom and Pop stores. If you want 22 miles West in Blythe CA is 1 supper market and a Kay Mart.35 Miles North in Parker 2 supper market and a Ford and GM dealer.South 80 miles to Yuma most big city stuff or a 128 miles East to Phoenix area all big city stuff. You might say Q is in the middle of no where.
For the highway travler there are the large truck stops(3)a McDonalds,Burger King and a Carls JR. The La Possa long term visitor area (LTVA)was created in 1983 to fulfill the needs of the winter visitors. The campground is appoximately 11,400 acress, flat landscape, spasely vegetated with plants such as Cresote bushes,Palo Verdy tress,Ironwood trees,Mesquite tress and various cacti. The LTVA is open from 15th of Sept.to 15th of April and is $180 for the 7 month stay or $40 for a 14 day stay. There is free camping for 14 days on other BLM land around Q, but you have to buy your water in town and pay to dump in town and there are no trash cans so you carry your trash out with you. Q also has many full hook up parks that you can stay in.They range from cheap on up. Hight today low 70's,Low around 41 and lot of SUN.Eat your hart out.
