Next weekend my dear wife and one of our best friends will be running the Columbus Marathon. We're travelling up the day before in the 345 to maximize relaxation to and from the race and we're booked in a downtown hotel so we can bascially walk to the starting line.
So, I'm wondering about parking the 345 somewhere safe in Columbus on Saturday night. We don't need anything other than a parking space. Any suggestions from locals on surface lots, parking lots, etc.? It will be unattended so my main concern is one of security. I'll be towing my Beetle so something a little out of the way is fine.
Tom,
Thank you very much for the offer, but that's probably a little too far out for this particular trip (drive up, drop everyone at the hotel, park the 345, drive the VW to the hotel garage....reverse the next day.)
The Airstream dealer is Columbus is: Bob Caldwell’s Airstream 1889 Morse Road. 1-866-337-2031.
Or call the sales rep. Nick Losacco (614) 337- 2031. Cell: 989-8583. He sold us our unit last year and we spent the night on the lot.

Steven,
That's 10 minutes from downtown depending on traffic. Morse road crosses I-71 north of downtown and Bob Caldwell is east a mile or two from the interstate.
Tom
They have a campground at the State Fairgrounds at 17th and I-71. We have stayed there in the past at events hosted at the fairgrounds. But, now that I think about it, Quarter Horse Congress may be going on starting that weekend, so the CG may be full, but you could still find a place to park your MoHo, plenty of space there.

An excellent connection...they are happy to accomodate us. Sounded pretty excited to see a Classic Motorhome. Looking forward to meeting Nick. Thanks for the tip.
Not us, the 345 is tucked in the driveway here in Louisville until we leave on Saturday for Columbus. Nick seemed like a nice guy. I'm looking forward to meeting him and a few others at their store.
Steve,
I found this old thread and read that you follow marathons. Any chance that you will be doing the Cleveland Marathon on 5/20/07??? Big Al and wife, Jean, came down from Canada so that Jean could walk in the marathon last year. We are looking forward to their visit this year again. It would be neat to have two Airstreams in the driveway for that weekend. We have plenty of space!
