20 MI State Forest Campgrounds Closed

Just an fyi if you are boondocking in Michigan ...State forest campgrounds are generally not reservable and not staffed.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced that 20 state forest campgrounds (Not State Parks) will be closed. Some may be reopened for hunting season. Link listing closed state forest campgrounds with info is below:

Also, the price of boondocking at campsites in the State Forest Campgrounds was raised from $10 to $15.

Still there are 118 other great state forest campgrounds for boondockers to choose from at this link in Michigan

The state parks are not affected by these closures, rather a few state forest campgrounds.

Hi,
I understand its a budget cut (we hear that term a lot in MI) $75,000 this fiscal year apparently from trails and recreation.
