Our dream on-the-water destination is Long Key SP in Florida. Camping is directly on the beach, with many sites shaded, only one tier deep. Problem? Getting a reservation. We gave up after many attempts. Good luck! ~G

Depening on time of year I highly recommend the beach camping on the Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras, NC.
There is State Park beachside camping, private parks on the neach and bay, and a great Island hop on the free ferry.
If weather is cool head further south to Charleston, SC where you can camp at James Island and be just a few miles from the beach. James Island has a waterpark in season and is across from lots to see and do in Charleston.

Let's not go there. 'Tis a silly place.

You could also try Boyds in Key West (I think). It's expensive but they have beach front camping IIRC. Never stayed there of course so I don't know much about it other than what was in the Florida Camping Guide. There is also a camp on the beach camp ground in Myrtle Beach and I think in St. Augustine or Daytona. I'll have to dig out my notes to see which one.

not sure though. i'd really like to know about the plant/tree in the left of the frame. identification of that may help on whether it's east or west coast.
I don't know that we can ever really tell for sure where it is...but maybe what it is!

According to all the tutoring that Fred has imparted on us at VAC rallies and obsevations over time - it appears to me that that is an Ohio made trailer, not CA. Why?
  • the oval emblem below the blue VIN placque is a MHMA badge. CA trailers didn't have these - they have the square CA Housing ones
My guess is it's a 1963 Safari Ohio made Land Yacht like the one here - except the one in the archives has the International upgrades (trim around blue placque & scare light). The key is the door-in-a-door, the positon (no front windows) and direction of swing.

BTW, that picture was originally shot for the 1963 Airstream Story brochure check out page 4 for a color version and a slightly different shot.
