Upper Lake Powell, UT

We are planning a trip to Hall's Crossing on Lake Powell, will be spending a few days at the RV Park there, and wondering if there might also be a place where we could do some boondocking within reasonable distance from the lake? Anyone know of an area?

Thanks for any suggestion you may have.

The National Park Service sometimes seems to hide information on their campgrounds (the majority of which have no hook-ups), but usually you can find them on the park websites with enough persistence. Try:
www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvisit/glen-canyon-interactive-map.htm

www.nps.gov/glca/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

We did the Halls Crossing ferry some years ago and didn't camp there, but there did seem to be a nice campground near the ferry landing.

It requires a somewhat more advanced search, but try finding BLM campgrounds in the area. Can't think of any off-hand, but these are well off the beaten track. Some we wouldn't take our Airstream to get to, though.

Have a wonderful trip! Are you boaters?

Thanks for the info, those two sites are very helpful, and I had not found them.

Yes, we are boaters, sort of, and we are taking kayaks. Would like to get within paddling distance of some of the interesting side canyons.

This is a toasty time of the year for the desert, but on the way you could stop at Gooseneck SP. Boondock on the edge of the canyon overlooking the San Juan river. Spectacular views. Between Blanding and Natural Bridges is Comb Wash where you have access to many Indian ruins. There are some boondock sites on the north end of Powell and the North wash just beyond Hog Springs where there are some slot canyons.
