Turkey Hunting Boondocking

Have any of you guy's or gal's went Turkey hunting with your Airstream. I have a small SOB I have been useing for a hunting rig but when I get my Airstream rebuild done (or close to done) I think I will take it. For some reason I just don't want to stay in anything but a streamer now. I just got it about last Feb. and it is one of the most fun deals I have goten into, even working on it is fun!

Here was our cozy set up. Deer hunting during the day, TV or DVD movies and hot showers at night.

Hi Ramp,
I've deer and turkey hunted out of my '77 Excella 500 and now my '86 Sovereign 25' for almost 8 years now. It sure beats a tent and I am officially spoiled now. Since we do not have access to electricity, I added 265 watts of solar power and have generator backup if needed. We use to piggyback off a main water line from a well until someone busted a hose in the middle of the night and the well water pump burned up and the game preserve did not want to replace the pump.

The Texas hill country is filthy with turkeys, for your consideration. It is a ways from Franklin, though.

I made two hunts in Pecos county on Perry Ranch the closest town was Iran. The turkey roosted on the high line that ran across the ranch. I saw lots of deer and tons of doves the turkey were hard to hunt as they didn't want to come to the call. We did manage to take a few birds but it was hard hunting. I like hunting in Texas as it is a change from NC and GA where we hunt the most. Do you lease land in Texas?

In between Sevierville and Knoxville on Chapman Highway there is a Turkey Shoot Farm... Very fun, I try to visit it each year for Thanksgiving and make it a family event!

There are many places to park your airstream here thats for sure...

Visit our Rally page for a bunch of links on where to park:

Never hunt any animals; however, did see lots of wild Turkeys at Lake Eufaula today. Saw lots of deer too, but since our property is in a State park, I think these animals know no one will be trying to kill them. They just stand and look at you.

kstampa good question
either buy a bunch of 5 gallon jugs from Wally world or go to Northern or tractor supply and purchase a 25 or 50 gallon tank. You might be able to get some clean old pickle barrels and fill them up. You can also devise a way to catch rain water with a barrel
It all depends on how much water you need.
we use our AS's for hunting every year and conserve as much water as possible. we end us taking our campers home with us as we are 2.5 hours from our sight and don't want to risk any vandal damage.
we use a Honda 2000 generator and are pretty spoiled with the AS as it is a huge improvement over the old mouse house camp we used previously

You might also consider a water bladder.

I use to lug 5 gallon collapsibles. Too much trouble to refill a 35 galllon tank. I just got a 55 gallon platic drum from a feed store and sterlized it. I bought a drill transfer pump- worthless junk. i'll return it today for this 115v 360gph portable transfer pump. I'll probably make a water tower out of another 55 gal drum and store some more on site.

Moose Hunting in Airstream

We were drawn in the Moose lottery in Maine this year.
The 16 year old son is the winner and I am the sub permittee.
We will hunt out of the Airstream in October for a bull.
Turkeys in the back yard, deer this morning in the front.
A young bull should hold the boys over until next year, I hope.
