I like the undercover bed cover. It is strong enough to stand on, weighs less than 60 lbs, and locks tight. It's water tight as well.

I have been kicking around the idea of a topper. You can store a lot of stuff in it, and many come with roof rack tracks, so you can carry your kayaks on top. You can put your generator in the bed and lock it up tight.

I have an F250 so not sure if the measurements still work for a 150, but I chose the TracRac rollup tonneau cover and have really enjoyed it. I also have a Honda 3000 and it fits under the cover (the gas cap on the generator touches the cover but it works fine).

I have a hard cover that folds into three sections. The third section does not fold up so it can be difficult to items in the back. If i had to do it over again I would go with either a roll up or a topper. I did not go with the topper because I did not like the looks but you can certainly get more into it like bikes.

I have the roll-x by Bak. It is not 100% waterproof but pretty close (minor leak w/carwashes). In my Chevy, the Honda 2000s fit fine, don't know if something taller would fit or not. Just measure from the bed up to the rail and you'll know for sure.

I would go with a topper next time. Uglier to my eyes but much more utilitarian.

One after market item I added to my pickup was an automatic tailgate lock. It integrates with the car lock system so when I lock my truck it automatically locks the tailgate. Several people have told me that late model Ford tailgates are high theft items. I also like the security of having a locked bed without thinking about it. Pace Edwards makes the unit.

I have a Diamondback 270 on my f-150 5.5' bed -- really outstanding, multi-functional design. Incredibly robust construction. All manner of options available. I would never go back.

Firedog,
I use the Ford cover. I believe it is made by BAK Industries for Ford, same as the BAK-Flip. Water tight and works really well.

I have had an Undercover brand tonneau on our 2009 F150 for the past four years. It has held up great and is waterproof by design. In that time I have stood on it countless times even when it is quite hot outside, and have mounted a rail system to carry our four bicycles on top of it while traveling.

I like that it is light enough for me to remove by myself when I need to carry something tall. The integrated lock also prevents the tailgate from being opened if you didn't lock it.

Could you post a pic of the rack?

bakflip - easy on , relatively leak proof and can be folded up in sections

had a rollup - didn't fit very well and leaked at the tailgate

I've got a RetraxOne roll up. Smooth operation, locks securely and it's watertight. A bit pricey but, in my opinion, worth it.
