Thumbs up Sweet Boondocking!

A one night stopover in a Nevada basin. Just a few miles off of the highway. Camped beside a stream fed by a hot spring that provided fine soaking. All to ourselves for the night. Dark skies, not a sound of traffic or humanity. Nice!

The four mile gravel access road was nicely graded, ending in a large circular drive at the hot springs. There is plenty of flat sandy land for camping (unposted), and being the only ones there on a July afternoon we set up the Airstream right beside the stream.

The desert was delightfully cool and fresh after an afternoon thunderstorm that briefly pelted us with small hail. Later that evening, another car came in and set up a tent a hundred yards or so upstream from us. We enjoyed an absolutely dark, quiet and peaceful night.

The sandy bottomed stream and man-made pools were clean and just right for soaking. We were alone in our pool until mid-morning the next day when a couple stopped for a quick soak.

To get to Bog Hot from Denio Junction, Nev., drive Nevada 140 west toward Lakeview. After rounding a low range of hills at 9.1 miles, turn north off the paved highway on a gravel road (signed Bog Hot) that parallels the west side of the hills, which are the southern end of the Pueblo Mountains. Notice Bog Ranch at 3.4 miles, with its pond that invites birds and other wildlife. This is where the hot water winds up. Keep driving another 0.7 mile and watch on the left for a bare, chalky area on the desert floor. Turn here, drive a short way and notice the rivulet of hot water flowing across the desert.

What kind of tow vehicle are you towing your Airstream with and how much does the Flying Cloud weigh? Just curious. I own a 19' and pull it with a '90 GMC Jimmy, which isn't the most economical, your vehicle looks a little smaller than a truck and looks good pulling the Airstream. Thanks, talk to you soon.

Thanks, I did search some of your other posts, sounds good. I appreciate the information. It may just come in handy in our near future, say six or so years from now.
