AND, I can show you some awesome high-country lakes and streams that will have you salivating and buttering up the old cast iron frypan...4WD required(got it) and cameras a must...'course, i'm talkin' Silverton, and the snow will probably still be at the higher elevations thru June into July...worth the wait, tho'...Ouray Hot Springs is a great way to unwind, and there is also Orvis Hot Springs in Ridgway...private pools are available...SW Colorado is a mecca in the summer, for obvious reasons, when you get there...Mesa Verde, the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train, 4WD out the kazoo, ghost towns, old mining sites, a great historical museum, a mine tour, a mill tour...did I mention the scenery...?
We won't go back till June, sometime, but it does keep us coming back...

Not completely safe, but most likely. If it does snow it will be a passing storm and things will dry up in a day or two. I have seen it snow, but its very rare. Be aware that its hunting season - so you will have lots of company in the campgrounds - all nice folks - but mainly if you go off hiking wear a bright orange hat or something.

Perfect time, no snows, got some pretty steep hills, though.

Quick note on Telluride: the town is not RV friendly, however, there are several NFS campgrounds south of town by Trout Lake and one in the Illium Valley. I still belong to the Telluride Rotary Club and we put in an RV dump station by the ski area parking lot. It took several years to get the town to install a sign directing RV'ers to the site.

There is a great state park called Ridgeway between Montrose and Telluride that we stayed in for several days. It closes fairly early in September but if you can get in you will find the fishing excellent and one of the best campgrounds in Colorado.
