We spent three glorious days and nights boondocking in Wells State Park near Sturbridge, MA with our 1954
Airstream Safari. To be more precise, this wasn't hardcore boondocking as there ARE a few water spigots throughout the park, one central shower/bathroom building, a dumping station but there are no services
like electric or water hookups.
The park contains a beautiful, clean pond, more the size of a lake, suitable for fishing and swimming. The abundant trees are full and luxurious. Camp sites are clean, far apart, well shaded, and very serene. Almost all border on the water. I was particularly impressed with the regard campers have for others as the place was perfectly calm, peaceful, and very quiet during evening hours. I should point out that we camped during the week
, not on a weekend.
If you're a hiker, plenty of trails are available. I, personally, preferred to catch up on some reading and much needed rest.
Rates were , I believe, were about $14/ night.
Highly recommended and would most certainly visit again.
