Jimmin,
I have been enjoying your photos, thank for posting them.
Is it possible to post a larger size? It is hard to see much detail of the palms for example (and others).
Not that I know of. But you can click on the photo and it will make it larger.
I have close-ups, but don't know(ok, remember ) how to post them...am not trying very hard, as yet, as I'm enjoying where I am to take them...ROUGH(washboard) road to get to where we were today, but worth the trip, until I try to get out of bed, tomorrow...
AMAZING country...so much that seeing it doesn't do the photos credit...even if they could be panoramic...
Interesting phenomena(or, maybe just an observation), is that 'Teddy Bear"(gotcha cacti) grows in a defined elevation area...they're there, and then they ain't...
The El Camino Real Unit is a bunch of friendly folks...felt pretty darned comfortable at this afternoon's Happy Hour...TTQ seemed to cause a bit of...well...amused disenvolvement in further conversation, but a LOT of them are interested in the Balloon Fest, and a couple want to "Join UP" as associates...Theft from other units continues, and the entry price is a real come-on...THANKS, MILO, for wording it correctly.
WE ARE OUT OF FLAMINGOS(-OES?)...WILL PUT IN THE NEXT ORDER THIS COMING WEEK.
Still a few THOUSAND places to park out here...we're waitin'...

So, we climb a trail with similar warnings as the Picacho Peak trail, but no mention of cable handlines...Good,, or just uninformative(*as the wimp-out back trail at Picacho was...???)...It looked worse than it actually was, but I probably won't 'fess up to this statement in the morning...no cables needed...maybe a bit more sense, but ignorance CAN be blissfull at the time(ok so MY time is fairly consisitent)...BLISSFULL is a GOOD thind when yer not falling, bleeding, or otherwise headed for peril...you know, like older folk in the desert...? (tho' the spelling of blissfull don't look good...)( I do these side bars to piss off my HS English teacher, may she rest in Dunne peace...).
Well, now where was I...?oh, yeah, in the desert...!!!

Way's to boondock in Quartzsite Arizona in the winter. (1) In your Squairstream trailer (2) In you classic Airstream motor home. (3) In your classic Airstream trailer. (4) In your BIG SOB motor home. (5) In your retead motor home. (6) In your pickup camper. (7) In you van and tee pee. (8) In your sail boat.
Mike and my trip today at Quartzsite AZ Many a miner died in his pursuit of precious metals.Graves can be found wherever mining took place. The names have long ago worn off from the wooden crosses that once where headstones. The Indian lookout is another desert mystery.Who built it and why?
Well the slow down in Q is started I think? This next week end in the "BIG tent" on Jan.30 to Feb.8 is the Hobby,Craft and Gem show. Then on Jan.31 to Feb 1 there is the Classic Car show. The weather here for Mon.& Tue. is not going to be Q's best.It is only going to be in the low 60's but sunny. Still see some Airstreamers around the area after the El Camino Real rally. So note all the Airstreamers have gone yet. Again photos of two Quartzsite area rock wall mystery's
(1) The so-called Spanish Wall
(2)Indian Lookout?
Who built them and why. What do you think there purpose was?
Wind is blowin', sun is intermittently hidin' behind the clouds, shorts are an iffy thing to be wearin', right now...but the herd is definitely thinning out. Still, the duimpsters are beginning to disappear behind the trash bags, so the generation of trash hasn't quite quit...we're off to visit with Anita, and deliver the Airstream Life issue with her glass garden featured...maybe she'll kick my butt in a game of horseshoes(she's a former league player).

Well my adventure today (Mike has gone shopping in Parker)was to go to the old remains of the stamp mills,on the way I found 2 coyote's watching me one on the ridge the other in the road with it head just looking over the ridge.( Photo1)Click photo to make larger. Photo 2 is the Halsey Williams mill. The mill operated between 1940 and 1950. Photo 3 is remains of the Stetler stamp mill at the foot of Q mountain overlooking Quartzsite.
The winter people come
and the winter people go.
They sit in the sunshine
and they talk about the snow.
Parker...close to Q, two grocery stores(Basha's and Safeway), but a mini-Walmart is going in across fro Safeway...hope the prices are lower...
First stop was Subway, to keep the munchie-dragon from the shopping cart, then the thrift store, then Safeway, then Basha's...then...get the heck out of Dodge...4 1/2 hours...Lordy but I hate shopping('cept thrift stores), and am glad that groceries are 30 min away...$150+, after groceries- home.
LATE happy hour, BUT,...happy hour. Clamato juice is refreshed, so am I...kinda cool out...50''s, with upper 30's for the early morning...then back up to the high 60's...may have to wear my sweats in the am...life is tough, but we'll make it...
Another wasted day, livin' in Q...will it ever end?

Mike, just remember that if you get toooo bored down there, you can always come up here and shovel some snow. (We wouldn't presume to ask Tracy to do that kind of work, though.)

Lynn,
I'm on my way...just have to shovel my way out of Q...oh, wait, that's right...no snow here...well, I'll wait for the first snow down here, THEN shovel my way out, then I'll come shovel your driveway
Found that the reliable gray water tank gauge was working last night...water was about a half inch from the top of the shower wall...coulda been ugly, but now it's nirvana for the plants along the wash...amazing how you can put 60 gallons in a 40 gallon tank!!!

We've kind of been wondering how we'd handle gray water down there. Ours has no gray water tank, so it's gotta go someplace. We could bring along the portable blue tank and run it there (and then out).
