Operating in "stealth" mode
So we have a trip coming up where we were very tardy in getting reservations in a particular state's most heavily used park. So we will be dry camping for four days. No big deal...right? Except this particular state has a NO generator policy except for required health needs, and a written permit application process is in place!
For you solar fans....it is in deep woods, even if I had adequate solar capability.
So I will take along the Honda EU2000i for...maybe one or two recharges. I am all LED lighting equipped and don't need AC, as forcasted highs are 76* all week.
So, I suppose this particular state's officials wouldn't have a problem with jumper cables and idling a Duramax....but no super quiet Gennie allowed??????
So I have decided to be a rule breaker (hard for me) and stealthily use the Honda once or twice......which prompted me to order up a Supergen sound deadening tent...partly to hide what I'm doing visually, and partly audibly.
Think I'll get away with it?

Can you put the generator in the bed of the truck, and run it there in eco mode?

Yes, I won't need more than eco mode, and truck has an open bed though...taking the scooter and inflatable boat, et.al. Hard toneau cover must be left home. It just depends on direction of neighbors, I suppose...and when they're gone.

Is there any reason you can think of for which your Dr would agree you would need to use the generator during that time?

No need for jumper cables, just plug the trailer into the truck and let it idle for a while. The money spent on the fuel should cost less than the ticket. Probably cost less than the sound deadening tent too, but I'm not sure on that one.

Thought of that, but leave in less than a week, and we ARE talking about Govt. bureaucracy, right.

Thought of that too, but you're talking maybe 8 amps at idle through the umbilical and perhaps 40 amps through jumpers.
Tent for 2 Honda 2000is (future planning) is $160....ticket????? Warning (probable) is free, but could PO the wife for all my toy "investing". Much more fear than the law on that one.

Run the gennie until a Ranger shows up and gives you a warning, or someone complains...thereafter use the truck.

Yup, I suppose that's the answer, but I really want to justify a work around, mostly on principle, I suppose!

I've never heard of such a law - what's the purpose of it? I have camped with people using modern generators, and they are so quiet I can't imagine they would bother anyone during the day. Maybe in the middle of the night when everything is quiet. Otherwise I wouldn't think anyone would even know about it.
I am a rule-follower too, so I feel your pain! I hate to even have the worry of being caught!

Scratch the tent imo, run the gen in the back of the truck. If you do this it will be unobtrusive and you will retain plausible deniability if it doesn't look like you are trying to "hide" your law breaking....

Tell them you are going to use in 'green' mode...
Maybe there is a doc here who can write you a 'prescription'..?

Basically if someone complains they will kick you out of the park. So the question is, will someone complain.
Do you have a couple of fully charged extra batteries around you could take along?

My generator is a little bit noisy, I could see rules precluding its use in a campground that has close neighbors, but I think the rule is over the top for those who have nice quiet generators.
Is common sense were to prevail there would be a decibel rule....
But what is common sense these days?

We've all heard this, right?...."if common sense were so common, why don't more people have it?"
