OK - have a friend coming into town and kids begging to see the Grand Canyon since we moved from Chicago (funny they don't remember the 15 minutes at the south rim when they were 2 years and 6 months old). This looks like the perfect prescription - let me know if any of you AIR friends are heading to this spot so we don't have to duke it out or play mumbly peg to win this great spot! Thanks to all posters for this.

North Rim Grand Canyon NP

Just got back from the N Rim: We couldn't get into the N Rim C.G. so we stayed at DeMotte NFS C.G. just outside of the park. The canyon is one big hole in the ground.

Grand Canyon- private viewing!

Just south of Jacob Lake's gas station, less than a half mile is a RV Park in the trees with hookups. The gas station can give you details, or the Forest Service people next door on the south side of the parking lot can do better.

The gravel road is not too bad to get to Crazy Jug Point. The wife and I trimmed back any brush to get our 23 footer through without scratches. The best spot is where the photograph was taken.

There are a couple of pullouts in the trees if you turn right, before the short road to the Crazy Jug Point area. If you keep going on that road you will end up at the parking lot for the trail head hike to the Colorado River. I heard, half way, there is a water fall that campers catch on the way back up and spend the evening to get a morning start back to the parking lot.

The Park does not allow dogs on their trails, so we did not do the hike. They do allow rattle snakes, mountain lions and road runners...

With how the critters get into spaces in our Airstreams, this worries me. Nothing worse than getting into bed and finding a mountain lion. Ack!

I hate when that happens.

Brushmonkey: This one is for YOU and your FAMILY!

This spot is so remarkable and someone asked about Crazy Jug Point... thanks to mojo that this thread could be found.

For Grand Canyon off the gird... it does not get any better than this.
