It's kind of slim on listings, though, at least here in the southwest. One of our Airforum members has put out listings of free/cheap sites for a whole bunch of states, and those lists are much more comprehensive.

Of course it is lean - it's brand spanking new! One way to help get it started would be to add one of your favorite spots. One you don't use often - if ever.
The BIG difference is the use of Google Maps. I don't think the intention is to assemble a long list of Walmarts, truck stops and places to just pull over for a night enroute. That's been done over and over again! As I understand it the purpose is to list real camping places.
This forum has some of the best such boondock places I've seen, but also contains a wealth of other boondocking info. The new site is just places...
Interesting and well organized new site for us Boondockers: Free Campsites
Thats just the right thing we needed was that extra 'out' for incase we are skipping and have to budget...but I tell you something, some of those sites...are way out of site! Ha!

But right off the bat I see the PA Welcome Center near me is listed. I'm almost certain they do not allow camping. Reading more carefully I see they are listing it for bathrooms, water and picnic tables. So I guess not all of their listings are for camping.
We were looking for an appropriate thread to post yesterday's find----a city campground in Grayville, Illinois, off Route 1 close to the Indiana border. A well-marked route takes you to a rather narrow, paved road, and up a hill to a very wooded, pretty area. Shelter, dump station, water, electricity, potties, a single shower----and FREE!! A handful of these sites are reasonably level, others somewhat so. Tent and trailer/RV sites seem to cohabitate nicely throughout to use all available space. Probably crowded on weekends, but we are right now one of only three visitors to this park. FREE!!
