Looking for New Years boondock suggestions

OK, so I was thinking the other day how much I hate New Years Eve, and the normal way I spend it. So, I started thinking it would be fun to spend the week between Christmas and new years out camping (preferably boondocking) out somewhere with reasonable temps and scenery. One thought I had was Padre Island, but Iím not married to that location. So, I was thinking maybe some fellow members of the Institute of Eternal Slacking (the forums) might have some suggestions or even some choice locations to suggest. The general constraints are reasonably warm- I am not looking for bragging rights here; preferably within 1,200 ~ 1500 miles of Nashville or St Louis; scenic; and cheap cheap cheap.

IES? I don't' think so!

I am NOT slacking!

I am engaged in "Strategic Planning" "concept development" "product research" and other high order processes. And I'll get right back to it as soon as I refill my coffee cup.

Quartzite fulfills the reasonable temp and cheap cheap cheap.
Scenery may be lacking.

I suggest Anza Borrego State Park in Calif. Cheap and scenery, look at Rich Luh's blog for December, 2005 and January, 2006.
