Question Glenwood Springs - Carbondale area or Summit county

I have free time and I'm looking to get away to either the Glenwood Springs/Carbondale area, or Summit county (anywhere from Breckenridge to Kremling) with my Bambi. Boondocking preferred and I'd like to be near good mt biking trails, if possible. Thanks. - Roy

PS: If you don't wish to divulge a special spot to the whole world , you could PM me.

Glenwood Canyon as a paved bike trail through the new portion of I70 built several years ago. A lot of BLM land nearby. The hiking trail up to Hanging Lake is a treat.

There is several miles of paved bike trail between Breckenridge and Frisco along the river, National forest all around the area... Campgrounds at both Green Mountain Res and at Dillon Res.

I don't know of any mtn bikeing trail, but I'm sure there several.

Don

I have found anywhere around Glenwood Springs to be hard to find a spot at a RV park and have the highest rates I have seen anywhere. About $50 a night for a basic site to start, and they don't like to give discounts.

I'll very likely stay away from Glenwood, as it'll be rather congested. I'm looking at maybe Bogen Flats campground near Marble, or (to the east) the area where the Colorado Trail crosses the Swan River...which is south of Keystone and east of Brek. Biking the CO Trail at that location might be a fairly snowy ordeal right now . . . SO: if we get the [forecasted] snow down to 9,000' tonight, I might just boondock at the Bookcliffs area north of Fruita...plenty of snow-free mt biking there. Thanks for the replies. Any and all suggestions appreciated. - Roy

East of Breckenridge near Jefferson there is a little primitive campground in Pike National Forest called Michigan Creek. I use this spot a lot in the wintertime for back country skiing as you can easily access both Boraeas Pass and Georgia Pass. I dont know what kind of technical mountain biking it holds but its out of the way and quiet.

I do most of my mountian biking ON the ski resort areas, using a gondola to take me up to the top and hit fast single track coming back down. Opposite of how I do my skiing and avoid the crowds in both seasons!

In any case, have fun!
