Unless of course a genuine tuba playing camper pulls in next door hoping he has found a kindred spirit. Is one who plays tuba a tubist?

Spark arrestor
Regarding the spark arrestor...it is a nice feature but it does nothing about a hot muffler. Forty years ago (man, that seems like a lifetime ago), I worked for the Southern California Edison Company where our trucks were for off-road and all had spark arrestors that were checked weekly. If we ever drove over dry grass or weeds that might come in contact with the exhuast system we had to clear it out with shovels or sticks or something because a hot muffler would start that dry brush on fire. So...Honda has that but still will have a hot muffler.

Hopefully you won't be using your generator as a tow vehicle over high grass. But what starts more grass fires than mufflers is catalytic converters which are much hotter.

Good point, Randy. And one that I have wondered about as well. I have cautiously touched the area where the exhaust exits the Honda 2000w housing...the opening in the hard plastic housing is basically flush with the exhaust "hole" of the generator ... The housing around the "hole" is warm to the touch but not burning hot. To get to the actual metal of the exhaust you'd have to stick your finger into the hole...something I have not done! The spark arrestor seems very efficient and the way the housing covers the muffler and exhaust on a Honda 2000 would be difficult to really burn anything.
That having been said, (1) please, folks, don't go around grabbing generator exhausts or poking your fingers into exhausts, and (2) do not place the generator in a position to even TEST the "it's not so hot" theory in the field. I make sure there is nothing combustible (including grasses, etc) within several feet of the exhaust whenever I use the generators.

LOL! The tuba tactic is indeed clever! If you don't have a tuba, one of these on the picnic table would work as well ...

This baby will keep the entire campground charged up. That may mean everybody gets 50 amps or it may mean pitchforks and torches:

How about large dogs wearing lederhosen and playing tubas? If the noise won't get to anyone, the lunacy of it all may scare them away.
I'm now going to make a list of people on this thread I never want to camp next to.

Band geek! A Sousaphone is probably the image that came up in 90% of readers' minds when they read "tuba." And only another band geek would comment on the distinction, right? Trombone and baritone in my case.

Good catch. The same thing occurred to me. I wasn't in band, but a good friend played the tuba and Sousaphone. Depends on the occasion. One for concerts and the other for marching.
Actually, our small school had two or three Sousaphones, but only one tuba.
Seems like a set of bagpipes would work well too. I've seen a band of pipers marching through a crowd at an art show. People got out of their way better than they did for the Marine Band.

that's kinda what I was thinking. Propane powered AC, up on the roof, with sound baffled to the bottom and sides so it was reflected upwards.
Just make the existing ac module a little longer to accomodate a horizontally opposed two cylinder propane powered engine...

Wow did this thread go some unexpected places! Tell you what I call a truce here, won't complain about your generators, tubas and gas powered air conditioning, as long as you don't mind if we get a little rowdy some nights around the campfire. Love the drink cart idea!

A propane powered A/C makes a lot of sense—converting generator power to 120 volts is inefficient and requires lots of wire.
Or maybe just mount a fridge on the roof and blow the air downward. I think it would have to be somewhat larger than the standard RV fridges to cool the entire trailer, maybe bank 5 or 10 of them on the roof. It will take 5 or 10 hours to cool the trailer, but you can run it all day long while driving. How many of you have entered a 120˚ trailer after a day driving through the south or southwest? Wouldn't it be cool to entered a nice cool trailer after a grueling day at the wheel? This will add to the height of the trailer, but it'll be worth it. And think of all the ice cubes you'll get as a byproduct—gin and tonics all day long at the adult beverage cart.
Now we have to work on a propane powered awning.
