Dispersed camping...Bryce Canyon Natl

Any tips on boondocking close to Bryce? Camping spots in the park may be hard to find..would not mind boondocking.

Thanks for any help!

Try Kodachrome Basin state park. It's lovely and not far at all from Bryce.

Forest Service Travel Map of Dixie N.F. around Bryce:

Dixie National Forest - Maps & Publications

Scroll down. The section you want is 2011 Travel Maps, and the map of the area around Bryce is Powell Ranger District 2011 Travel Map. After you download it, note offices and phone #s on one of the panels (scroll down to area that includes Bryce). Campgrounds are marked.

Here is the web site for Dixie N.F.:

Dixie National Forest - Home

There may be other areas of interest to you.

PM me if you want more info on the general area. There's lots to see and many places to camp, depending on how adventurous you are. The highway over to Capitol Reef is quite nice, with many places to camp, and usually less people.

There is a Forest Service campground in Red Canyon, just on your way in, on the highway from Panguitch.

We've usually stayed at the Ruby's Inn RV park. These sites aren't too packed in together, and the campground is wooded. Power and laundry aren't bad, either.

We also had good luck at Ruby's at Bryce (Ruby's) Canyon. Nice place, pleasant swimming pool, and excellent facilities. We'd probably stay there again, now though I'm tempted to try out Red Canyon!

Dispersed camping was very nice on Tom Best Road..now we have moved to North CG because rain may be in the forecast so did not want to get stuck. N CG is great also for $7.50 for seniors and a great view from our site in Loop B up the hill. Since we full-time we kinda watch our CG fees.
