Camping in the White Mountains
Last week my son -in -law and I spent a week in the White Mountains of New Hamshire.
We camped at the USFS campground in Campton NH. It has about 60 sites half of which can be reserved in advance, the other half are open and available on on a first come basis. From what I can tell the campgrounds fills up on the weekends but is mostly vacant during the week. At least it was last week, as there were only one or two other campers during the week.
It is very rustic. There is no on site pump out station and no electrical or running water hook ups. There are three toilets facilities and two shower stalls scattered through out the campground. You must pay to shower (2 dollars for 5 Minutes).
The sites are spacious but can be tricky to maneuver a RV or trailer into them. All sites are surrounded by beautiful trees and each has a fire pit, however I used a campfire in the can.
There is a lot to do in the area from hiking and biking to swimming in one of the rivers. The water is crystal clear and was not as cold as I thought it would be
