Boondocking near Hocking Hills, Ohio?

Does anyone know of a good boondocking area near the Hocking Hills area of Ohio? I'm thinking within 15 miles of the HH state park. We can stay at the park for about $30/night and if I could snag a non-elec site at the park then I could get it for $24. I was thinking more of the very-cheap park your trailer no-hookups type of thing. Anyone got a lead?

Check out the Rec. lands near McConnelsville. http://www.aep.com/environmental/rec...f/CampMaps.pdf
It's about 55 miles from HH State Park but has 10 campgrounds with over 300 sites that are all free. Some real nice places there on small lakes.
Here's pics of one of the sites. They have no hookups but do have pit toilets and water pumps.
Here's a link to their home page. http://www.aep.com/environmental/recreation/maps.aspx

Lake Hope is an often overlooked State Park in the area:

Hey Doug:

I remember you finding those when you were in the area or the Wilds a couple years ago. We've had the AEP grounds on our mind and we've already gotten our "permit". But, a bit too far for the HH commute, I think.

Hi Gary:

We stayed there last Oct. It is indeed a nice and secluded park that is *almost* boondocking. We chose there primarily because the main HH SP was "full". As it turned out, if we would have chanced it and gone to the HH SP, we could have gotten a spot. But, instead, we made reservations and paid the res. fee (GRRRR) at Lake Hope and made the ~30 min. drive back in the direction of home to go to HH SP.

Keep the ideas coming. We'd like to find a not-much-used boondocking area that we can just drop in to the area at any time. Maybe the AEP sites will fit that bill, I'll have to map it later and see but I think it will be too far for my desire.

I see you have a 27' trailer. With a lot of Ohio State Parks, the non-electric sites only have parking pads large enough for a car or maybe a vehicle with a small trailer.

If you look up the Ohio DNR website and go thru the process of making an on-line reservation you can get descriptions of the space you have to work with. So long as you don't submit your request, it is in a sense free to look.

We've stayed at HH State Park a few times with electric hookup and it was very nice. Also not too expensive.
