Boondocking in Missouri (MO)

I have a sweet boondocking spot in Mid-Missouri near Columbia. Overlooking a secluded lake stocked with fish, a fishing dock and ramp to launch your boat. The spot is way back in the woods, but easily accessible by good gravel roads. Located on public property, but only open for camping by special permit. Only has a pit toliet, no electric and no water.

The location has just been opend for camping and it just so happens the person responsible for issuing those permits works two doors down from me !

If anyone is interested in an informal meet & greet off the beaten path let me know and we'll arrange for it.

Nice spot, I would just like to make the 99 mile drive to CoMo for the fishing!

99 miles? you must be closer than Texas!

Missouri has some great fishing! You can chase everything from 100 lb+ blue Catfish on the Missouri River to record size brown trout on Lake Taneycomo. Or if you're like me, I prefer the alternative fishing methods category for paddlefish and rough fish

Thanks!

Hey Tikiman - thanks so much for your generosity. I think we may try and take you up on that this fall. I'll send you a PM, that looks like a great place to take the canoe too

I am currently in San Antonio, but will be returning to O'fallon, MO in a few weeks. Finishing school at UMSL. Have family in Fayette outside of CoMo.

Being an archer as well, I love the method and the photos.

We have not been to MO yet. Sure looks beautiful.

Thank you for sharing your spot.

Steve....this camping spot is real close to Fayette.

Dennis....As part of my job I teach archery, bowfishing and bowhunting. My buddies have a bowfishing team and are out every week during the warmer months. If you make it to MO and want to try it out let me know. Here's a few pics - A husband and wife we took out for the first time, our bowfishing crew and a buddies bowfishing boat who guides trips.

Hey Tiki,

My wife's grandfather was the judge for Fayette until he finally reached his term limit. Her uncle is now a board councilman there.

If you want to know more about Missouri hunting, fishing and conservation, look at back issues of Missouri Conservationist Magazine free online at: | MDC. The magazine is free for residents but paid subscriptions are available. This is a world-class publication and the wildlife photography is stunning.

Mom has a 240 acre farm in IA. Archery deer anyone?

Tell you friend that is the most awesome fishin boat ever.

Thanks

It sounds like we should have a little boondocking sportsmen rally.

Roger that!

Maybe we should have some kind of boondock'n fishing tournament? or maybe a little hunting camp? This spot is in the middle of several thousand acres of public hunting ground. Gets hit hard for firearms deer hunting in November, but not so much for archery season or fall firearms turkey hunting.
