Bonneville

hi from AZ. . .anyone gone to Bonneville for Speed Weeks ? I'd love to go & the only campground nearby is booked. I've heard folks just boondock on nearby BLM land, which sounds good to me, but can't find any details. Maybe I'll do an 'advanced scout' foray & do a "rally" next year !?! regards, Craig

We'll be there in our 1948 Curtis Wright...there's free camping at "the bend" close to the entrance of the salt, and many, like us camp in a casino parking lot...you should go, it is something to see...if you do, stop by and say hi....Dave

There's a RV park tied to one of the casino's, I believe the Wendover Nugget, and I looked at it last time I was at Speed Week and camping at the KOA. This other park looked to have empty spaces that year, so might be a possibility.
Camping at "the bend" in an aluminum Airstream didn't appeal to me, but I'm pretty anal about our 75th Custom. I don't see how you can avoid getting salt where you don't want it. Many people camped there are in rental motorhomes, or SOBs they may not care about.
