Went through Leadville on a BMW motorcycle years ago. My gosh what a great part of the country. Have fun.

Ray, I sent my confirmation info to the 2017 BD email. Sorry, I did not see it till just now. I look forward to the challenge...should be a terrific experience for this lil' ol' lady! I am, of course, traveling solo...just me and little Mikki, who will always be on leash.

I have gear to spin fish. I have never tried fly fishing...have one fly setup, willing to learn!

Thank you both, so much. Evelyn.

Trailer In Waiting list starts today

I am holding the 2017 Colorado High Country Adventure at TEN temporarily. Anyone else wanting to fit those additional spots on the roster will be "Trailers In Waiting".

This May and June myself and some other Off the Grid travelers will be locating good all weather campsites for the 2017 Colorado. When I am comfortable that MORE trailers can be fitted... those on the "Trailers In Waiting" will be chosen in the order I have them on my list.

So... 2017 Colorado is now on a Trailers In Waiting list.

We already have ten confirmed. If that changes, the next on the waiting list will be contacted.

Thank you for your interest and as I have repeated, this is not a RV Park circus trip. If you do not want to eat dust, dirt, mud, brush, dodge pot holes, traffic, cows, bear, deer, elk, mice, cold river hike crossings... and other hazards... this may not be for you.

Trailer in Waiting List for 2017 Colorado

Trailers in Waiting:

#1- Gloria & Bill (South Carolina) 25'

This Trailer in Waiting list will be those that when camping space allows, will be notified in order of their inquiry. At the present FIVE waiting is the limit. One area will accompany 50 trailers, others need to be accessed. I am just being cautious before adding additional interested Forum Members.

June and July 2016, myself and if several other experienced Boondockers help, will be out and locating appropriate Off the Grid camp sites. Colorado has many possibilities, but Wyoming Size open spaces is not one of them.

At the same time I am looking at Off the Grid sites in one of three areas. The other two areas will be future Adventures.

Thank you for your interest. This is again a voluntary Adventure. Those already active on the list, please let me know if you have a change of plans, so others may have an advanced notice.

ColoradoLady has made the possibility of an opening on the 2017 Colorado High Country Adventure. I am awaiting confirmation once hearing from her. She might be setting up her Bambi for a trial run to Chatfield Lake Park, Littleton, Colorado campsite and a round trip towing her Bambi of a challenging destination.

If then she feels that it best that she gives up her spot as #9, I will notify the next Trailer in Waiting.

August 2017

Bill & Gloria... are #11
Kimberly & Rich... you are #12.

I arbitrarily chose TEN at first. We have two 'Trailers in Waiting' if that number holds. Colorado has a lot of 'surface area', but camping spots are usually in between the mountains with all of the surfaces... which you call 'views'.

This Summer Nancy and I will be hunting for Base Camps and Dispersed Camps and get a DATE set and a comfortable NUMBER of Trailers set for convenience in Colorado.

August is best for the reason that it can SNOW at elevation in June. July is hot on the Front Range and everyone gets out of town, if it does warm up... to cool down. August is absolutely a beautiful month to be at elevation. The creeks and rivers have already dropped from snow melt and even fishing is improved.

A 28' trailer is not a big issue. A 30' and 34'... turning around can become a real big issue. Getting INTO an area and getting OUT are separate tasks. Takes more experience and more back and forth to get those beasts to cooperate.

When spotting locations this Summer, everything will be taking into consideration. Up to 25 feet makes more areas possible. Colorado, western Montana and Idaho present similar difficulties in access to great camp sites.

Utah is easy. Nevada is easy. New Mexico... a mixture. Wyoming... a mixture.

Views come at a price of ingress and egress. Getting into an area is always fun. Getting out is where the work is required.

August will be the month. Dates would then follow in 2017, as I am not sure what or where we will be in June 2016.

August 14 to August 23, 2017: Ten Days

Arcticfox- Doug and Sharon are #13. Welcome to the group.

Trailers #11 to #13 are 'Trailers in Waiting' at the present time.

I expect that by September 2016 various Base Camps and Dispersed Campsites will be found and then a definite number that will fit comfortably. This makes your planning easier in advance of 2017.

My goal is to fit 15 to 20 trailers, tent campers or Interstates. Finding areas that will fit a larger group is not the issue, but trying to keep the driving to a minimum for exploring by Base Camping. Some sites have the potential of two or three days of touring an area without moving the trailers.

Although the 'rolling part' of Colorado High Country is TEN DAYS, the first Base Camp and last Base Camp access do add to the day count.

I have the 14th as a Monday and the 23rd as a Wednesday of the week for 2017.
