Aaaaah....such fun to observe, as the various potential ROCKHOUNDS are gathering! They come from all over...far and wide...to trek along with Wild and wooly cowpokes, Ray and Nancy....their trusty guides. Trusting with blind faith and an apparent childlike sense of adventure....that they will not be consumed by the VICIOUS HAIRY GRIZZLY BEAR or mauled by the equally omnivorous RACCOON!

I have heard tales of hoards of these little innocent looking creatures descending upon the unsuspecting boondocking ROCKHOUNDS.....those city slickers from far and wide.....who travel to the wilds of Wyoming in search of an adventure to beat all adventures....sadly to meet such a tragic fate....at the little clawing hands of these rascally raccoons! Oh, the photos are too gruesome to reveal!

UDAP BEAR MACE is known to be effective on an intrusive grizzly.....but, what to do in defense of the vicious raccoons...no one can say?!!

Lest any one of you is taking this seriously....."chuckle, giggle, LOL!!! "

What I really want to say is all of you have a wonderful time. I would willingly follow Ray and Nancy on any adventure...anywhere....(as long as it is below 7,000 feet elevation). LOL! .....AND my batteries function properly now, Ray,

Diesel fuel is $2.19 at the Safeway in Laramie, and they have blueberries for $.99 a pint.

See y'all tomorrow.

Gerard, I see from Maggie's photo, that you and Laura made it up there in time to head out with the caravan this morning. It was nice meeting you both. Hope we can see you at Jackson Hole, Wyoming afterward. Have fun!

We spent last night at this spot....breathtakingly beautiful canyon overlook, have left it today due to high winds, particularly bad for those on the edge.

This was early dawn this morning.

Had a group brunch at the Oxbow Restaurant in Lander, great food and excellent service, and are on to our next rendezvous.

Due to family issues I was only able to spend a brief couple of days with the group, but I very much enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. What a great bunch of people. I look forward to future adventures with all of you, and you're all welcome at my place when passing through Buffalo. Double Cabin is a great campsite, and will be kept on the list of places to visit again. Some less than stereotypical Wyoming weather added interest and will enhance the stories.

As discussed with some of the group, we're pondering another adventure in the area in about a year. Stay tuned to see how that evolves.

Here is a picture of Porsha surveying the campsite.

My trailer got extremely dirty on the road in and out of Double Cabin. I think mainly due to the county laying new road base down. The haul trucks were making lots of dust, then it rained and mud was flying around. It was just a messy trip.

I just went out and washed the trailer. The dirt left a weird brownish tarnish in the aluminum in exactly the pattern that the dirt stuck to the trailer. I suspect that the road base material was a little bit acidic or basic, or otherwise caustic. I guess it's a good thing that I was due to touch up the polish anyway.

I think my trailer got dirtier than most on the trip due to the timing of when I arrived, and I doubt that this will effect clear coated trailers. But any of you who went down this road may want to hit the car wash when the opportunity arises.

Thanks, Ray and Nancy, for all the work and planning you put into this trip. I think it went incredibly well considering all the possible problems. Well done!Click image for larger version

Look at the picture below. West is on the right. Look closely and find the trunk of the tree.

A beautiful sunset almost every evening. Our final night for this rockdocking adventure was great! I wish this smart phone could take a picture of the Milky Way - the night sky is simply amazing!

We're down to just four RVs from the eleven that started this trip. We parted ways at various points as people branched off to other destinations.

Best wishes to all who participated and organized this adventure with particular thanks to Nancy and Ray for everything they did to prepare us and be our hosts.

NVESTYSLY, your photo in post 471..... I'm pretty sure that I passed that rig this afternoon as I drove west on I80 and that rig was going east on I80. Is that yours? Nice looking rig! How did you fare with the cross winds? My Interstate was rocking "just a bit"! LOL,

I'm on my way to meet Maggie and Lily in Jackson, then, on to Oregon. And 'm glad you folks had a good time. Gerard and Laura called last night, and told me the adventure was awesome!
