Worth fixing, or parts only? You decide!

That looks exactly like my '98 Safari after it got hit, only the damage was mostly on the R/rear instead of the L/rear. It was totalled.

I suppose if the frame is straight and someone was very handy they could replace panels, any interior damage, etc. and do OK. The frame on mine was bent, and I suspect this one is too, looking at the amount of dirt over the bumper. It hit hard.

On the positive side, the interior of mine came through the wreck surprisingly well. It moved things around without doing any significant damage.

Who knows?
I certainly wouldn't buy it without an inspection, as the seller seems to hint. Also, IIRC the bid was at $4K and reserve not met. Not me....

A trailer like this would make a great parts trailer for a vintage unit being redone - you get all new appliances, most of the cupboards, benches/cushions/mattresses and lights, wiring, awning and could in effect make your vintage "as new" inside. My buddy is doing this with his '47 Curtis-Wright, using a 2004 from I think Georgia that was totalled in Saskatchewan (near Regina). He paid a little under $600USD on eBay for it.

Don't touch it with a barge pole - to try and fix it - it would be a huge job and in order to find out if the frame is straight is not an easy task. It will never be right - and will always be declared as a salvage - so unless you are planning to keep it yourself - just not worth the hassle.

We have a similar 28' 99 with front and rear damage - the parts alone leaving some blemishes was $15000.00 US alone. add in your time to tear down and rebuild - plus you have no idea how badly the remaining panels have actually flexed or even stretched.

Now from another point of view many cases with front and rear end damage the systems are fully intact and functional. If you are into vintage - I suggest a Hybrid - this is our next project - to inject life into a 1961 Overlander from the parts and systems from the Excella.

A big chunk of change on a vintage refurb is changing out ALL the appliances or updating them. Pillage what you can and then flip the trailer for the next person who sees valuable parts still in her for whatever poject they may be working on.

We have had lots of people interested in the excellar frame for car haulers - with extra work of course - others want the remaining shell for storage or a hunt camp that they would put their own furniture in. So when we are finished pillaging we have a couple of buyers lined up.

Used car dealers have a saying, "there is an butt for every seat". Mine will not be in any of those in that trailer, it will probably never be a trailer again. But, if you need parts... That trailer has much more than $4000 worth of parts left in it. A fridge is $600 and up, an air conditioner is $300+, tires and wheels are probably worth $75 each, windows at least $100 each for the larger ones.

I agree, parts are worth the 4K, but it is still open to go up higher, and where it ends, may be someones future nightmare. A salvaged trailer with a washed title that no one will know has been rebuilt, is always a possibility.

I would not touch it. You can see in the pictures that the rear is draging the ground. It was plowing dirt when it was backed into the spot it sits on. If you look at the hitch area, the WD hitch pieces have been removed. Also the unit has 20# tanks, is that normal or has someone swapped out the larger tanks? The seller states that the price will go up if he finds the interior intact? This makes me think that someone has removed a few items all ready. Then again you might find a Peterbuilt tractor inside.

Looking at the window and door configuration I think it's not a 27 or a 25 - I think it's a 22ft. The refrigerator is an under the counter model - very small - but it gives you a lot of counter space. If you look closely at the rear view, you'll see that the furnace is in the center rear. The furnace is GONE. That is also where the furnace is located on the 22ft.

The wet bath will be a gonner too. The bed will be a full size, not a queen.

Is it still worth $4K?

Richard - I'm thinking the small non OEM tanks says, no it shouts - already been stripped! Nice wording on the sellers part that makes you think the interior is there, and intact, without actually saying it is - two very different things.

Bid's at $4K and the reserve is not met - thats even after he lowered the reserve! I doubt you'll get $4K in salvage out of this one.

It's a late model 22' International - maybe a CCD. I see the badge on the street side and I have the exact trailer in my drive. The heater exhaust is there in the rear to the left of the tag holder, heater smashed. Lots of stuff to destroy back there, I'd say $3500 for parts max, mostly front pano window and door area panels. The small tanks are standard - earlier years the tank cover was an option - battery up front '02 or '03 model. Fridge, stove, probably OK.
