Window rivets

I have a 72 Airstream. Want to replace plastic brackets that hold push bar that keeps windows open. Have the brackets. What brand/style/size rivets should I purchase? Have seen this replacement done with screws. Any comments on that?

I used aluminum pop rivets about a 1/2 inch long.
On mine I found the predrilled holes on the replacement supports did not line up exactly with the originals in the window frame. Check the fit on one before you start
