Angry Which rivets?

I wrote to Airstream to ask what size rivets I would need to re-attach the vinyl rubrail strip to my Argosy. They emailed me saying I needed the 1/8 inch with a #30 drill bit. There are about 5 different 1/8 inch rivets listed on their site. Which one do I need? What is the #30 drill bit for. Judy

Judy.

A #30 drill bit is used for 1/8 inch pop rivets.

On the exterior of your Argosy, you can use #48 pop rivets. The 4 is the diameter in 32nds, and the 8 is the grip range in sixteenths of an inch.

Make sure you use all aluminum rivets.

Thank you for your answer. Now can you tell me which rivets I should order from Airstream. They don't come in that kind of numbers. They all have letters behind them like ABS, etc.. If you sell these rivets I'll be happy to call Inland. I have the number memorized!!!! I'm going to be using these rivets to put the rubrail vinyl insert back on. The rivet has to go thru an aluminum strip, a vinyl strip and then into the skin. Will the #48 be long enough? Judy

Judy.

You cannot buy any parts from Airstream, unless your in Jackson Center.

You must use an Airstream dealer.

By written agreement, Airstream will not sell parts to compete with their dealers, since they require dealers to stock parts.

However, in the case of an extreme emergency, that agreement can be overlooked by Airstream.

You are putting rivets ONLY in the clips at each end of the vinyl insert - right?
