How durable is the plastic trim.... if its like the original, and hardens/shrinks and falls out, then its better to paint it!

Please Don't Paint it

... Purchase two rolls of the vinyl insert material from Inland RV. It will take fewer than two hours to replace the trim on your entire Airstream, and you will be pleased with the results. It will last 15-20 years.

I've got the wide stuff around the bottom of my '78, and the longest piece shrunk about 6" in five years.

As someone who's painted their railings, by the time you get done taping everything up and then cleaning any over spray off, you've easily got two hours into it.

Although I really like the way it came out, I could dig either dark navy blue or black vinyl trim as well.

Mine came in 50' rolls. Took 4 rolls. Cost about $170 total.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Prices vary greatly depending on what you choose but you can figure roughly at $1 per foot for the rub rail line and .50 per foot for the belt line.

It won't fall out if it's fastened at each end underneath the end cap, like it's supposed to be.
