Source for Alclad sheet

Where can we buy pieces of Alclad for AS exterior work? We are in Flagstaff AZ. I need four 10 inch wide strips to "coverup" a cosmetic scratch on the side of a 1976 International. Some of the scratch runs between the two trim strips on the side of the trailer. Two of the strips have to be 9 feet long and two have to be four feet long. Since I am not familiar with how Alclad is guaged for thickness I would like the material to be slightly thinner than the original side material.

Polish them out. By the time you buy the patch, the rivets and the shaver, and the hours of work. You could rent a cyclo, polish it out and be camping in less time.

Thanks Phrunes. Unfortunately the scratches are too deep to polish out. It might be possible for me to cover the worst scratches using a sheet of Alclad between the trim strips on the side.

I forgot to ask...what is the thickness of the original Alclad exterior siding for 1970 models?

The skin thickness is .032, the next down is .025, then .020, most places will not sell a 10" wide strip nine feet long. You would have to buy a 4" wide sheet and cut it. Check out AirParts.com - Home Page for a source

On-line metals will do custom cuts. Didn't see anything as long as you need though.
Order Aluminum 2024 Sheet in Small Quantities at OnlineMetals.com
Give them a call and see if they've got something that will work for you.

Might want to put a micrometer on your skins... I have a 1975 an mine are .040, at least the ones I have measured. I use Airparts Inc for my Alclad sheet metal.

Air Parts offered the best price and shipped it to the sheet metal shop where they will cut it for me. Thanks

Another source is Aircraft Spruce. I found with a recent purchase that their material + shipping was better than some others. I expect you would have to buy a 4' wide sheet from them as well.

Your international may be .032 6061-T6 which would be easier to find.

The local industrial and commercial insulation contractor may have various thicknesses kicking around his shop. Take him some coffee and donuts and he may just give you some pieces.
