First off, welcome to the forum David! You will find a wealth of information here and lots of folks willing to help you out.

It would be helpful in knowing how to respond to your question(s) if you completed the information portion of your profile. What year is your Bambi? Where are you located?

Being that it's "new" I would let the dealer fix it.

We've had several "bucked rivets" replaced around the door of our '64 by an airplane mechanic buddy. He charged us $5 a piece.

If you don't want to have the dealer fix it after the warrenty runs out, I would suggest looking for someone who does airplane repairs in your area.

sheared rivet

Is the rivet inside or out. Inside should be a simple repair with a pop rivet. Teh outside can be replaced with an 'Olympic' rivet.
Bucked rivets cost 10 cents. But that's just material. Labor is extra.

Yeah, the stealer should repair ir if it's under warranty. Keep an eye on it, if it pops again it may indicate a lot of stress on that area.
Look under Forums>exterior repair for lots of threads on replacing rivets

Shearing Rivets.

Shearing rivets are related to shock and/or vibration.

If the "running gear" is not properly balanced, shearing of rivets will occur.

Stopping or preventing shearing can easily be done with a proper running gear balance.
