Sharing some good news tonight

I posted yesterday about nearly losing my fingers, so thought I’d post something on a lighter note tonight...I’ve had a lot going on with the Airstream lately.

I was in a hail storm in Colorado and when I came out after to examine noticed a big dent up front near the light. My brother (my family owns a shop and everyone has an opinion), says the dent was too big for hail damage and I just noticed it after the storm...who knows, seems unlikely to me because I’m a bit OCD about this AS.

Well, when the dent guy came for his routine weekly jobs my brother had him look at my AS...he entirely removed the dent before I could even walk out to talk with him about it. Great work and super happy about the dent being gone.

Tomorrow I’ll be working on hard water stains...more to come, ha ha

And they said that it couldn't be done. The right guy and the right equipment may make this a great possibility for small dents like this.

For snappykelley, install a set of rock guards, which it should have had already, and move on. You won't have to look at the dents.

We have a guy in my area called "Dents Unbent". He removed a dent on my truck that my DW put in with the lawn tractor. He goes from dealership to dealership removing dents and I'd hit him up in a second for a try at an AS. I'd do a search on that name just in case it's part of a larger organization. Or at least search on "dent removal". He did a great job on the truck.

Spartan guy: what technique, what tools did your magician use to do this magic?

I know a guy in Green Bay that specializes in dent repairs. I had a couple of small dents in my F150 and he took them right out. Can’t see where they were. He goes all over the country fixing cars in dealers. So it can be done.

I watched him do it. Pretty interesting. All kinds of small tools and you really have to know how to work the metal. Kind of an art.

Kinda off the subject, but here goes. I have scratches in the clearcoat, not deep, from stupidly getting too close to tree branches. Anyone know how to tackle that? Does it need to go to a body repair shop? Do you think the average body shop can handle it? Thanks for any info.

It takes time, but I had a pretty big scratch from a stupid mistake. I sat down with a tube of 'Simichrome' I had for polishing metal. Tiny dab on a clean cloth and work. Repeat. I spent hours, but didn't want to use power tools. I also used Scratch Doctor which is less aggressive. You might also try toothpaste.
The secret is elbow grease and time. It's sort of cathartic, just you and the metal. Can't say I'd like to do it for a living, but I enjoyed the results. The problem is when you're that close, you see all the scratches that came from Airstream too!

Well, I tried the simichrome and unfortunately didn't do the job. Guess the scratches are deeper than the clearcoat but they really don't seem to be into the metal. Does anyone know if an average body shop can ?buff these out. Making me crazy looking at them.
