In the early 70's, AS started using 6061 T6 as an alternate to the 2024 T3. My '73 is made of 6061 T6. In the late 70's, AS switched to 3004-H18. In either case, a trailer made in the 70's very likely does not have Alclad skin, and there should be not worries about sanding through it.
