Repair Recommendations

We have a 2000 Excella that has a dent in the curbside rear (It was hit presumably by another trailer while waiting for service!). We have requested quotes from the following P and S trailer in Ohio, Twisted Silver in Nashville, The Trailer Company in Melbourne Florida, and Trailer works in South Carolina. Has anyone used any of these companies and has a good or bad recommendation? If you know of anyone else, please let me know.

Thanks!

You may want to also get an estimate from the Airstream factory...

P+S has a sterling reputation. The others I am not familiar with.

Ditto the recommendation for the factory -- things get mighty slow in the winter there and they may be willing to meet or beat any price you are quoted.

I'm not much of a photographer, so be kind!

I'll definitely take the poll results into consideration when making the decision!

good job '89

the pics are VERY helpful.

really a NICE looking trailer (and the pooch looks way too relaxed)

now how MUCH $$ do ya wanna spend ?

and HOW CLOSE 2 the BEFORE pics do ya wanna get it ?

i'd want it as GOOD as POSSIBLE, since it's such a nice-looker already.
___________

it appears 1 or 2 curved panels need replaced to get it back to b4...

most of the costs are LABOR related and TIME dependent.

since u r considering OHIO, just take it to jackson center.

((contact them and EMAIL pics, they can give u a pretty good bid that way))

20% OFF labor over the winter and they can do a GREAT JOB.

and get it as CLOSE to original as you want.

the bids are reliable from j/c, the TIME frame for repair dependable and the work top notch.

but j/c isn't on your list for voting except as "other"...

so i vote OTHER

cheers

Ditto...

The distance between Helena, Ohio and Melbourne, Florida is some 1,100 miles. If the distance isn't an issue for you then I would definitely consider JC for the work.

Well the poll didn't get a lot of hits, P&S was the winner (with 'other' getting the same number of votes). I contacted P&S and the factory. P&S was more straight forward with their estimate and a couple hundred dollars cheaper. The Trailer Co. couldn't do the work until February. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for all the feedback!

Fix it

We just picked our Safari up from Don Mar, on I95 in SC. They had to replace a side panel among other stuff. We are very satisfied with their work and it was only there less than 2 weeks.

The cost depends on the dealers labor rate.

Total cost should be a little over $1000.00.

You should get your insurance company involved.

But, that job is an (in by 8 out before 5), same day, assuming they have that quarter panel in stock.

P & S does very good work, as well as a number of other dealers. However, there are a few dealers, that should stick to tri-cycles.

Use caution with your selection, because your insurance company will not go to bat for you, if something is wrong, since you picked the dealer.

Just picked up the trailer from P&S. They did a fantastic job! They are really nice people too. See the after repair photo along with the original pics of the damage. MobileMe Gallery (We just had the corner dent repaired - but will eventually have all others done.)

Great job, but when you return, have them install the 2 rivets that are above and below the red clearance light.

That's sort of a giveaway, that there was some kind of damage.

Those 4 rivets, hold the quarter panel to a couple of stiffners.

Thanks!

I never would have noticed that! I wonder why they didn't put them in? I'll ask them.

Thanks!
