Rear Ended 79 Excella 500 on Ebay

I noticed there is a rear ended 79 rear bedroom Excella 500 in Arkansas on Ebay. For 3k.

I wonder if this unit is fixable?
The rear windows are intact, not broken.
Looks like it was hit at the floor level on the street side rear.
It would need a complete rear cap, floor, interior skin and ........

It does not have a salvage title according to the ad.
The unit looks way too nice to part out.
It is missing one of the aluminum mag wheels, strange??

Any thoughts out there?

Disclaimer, I do not own this unit or have any financial interest in it.

It will need to be repaired frame-off, as the frame will certainly have shear damage beyond the obvious area. The frame will need to be heavily rebuilt from the axles rearward. The rear cap, floor, interior, bed frame, and whatever was in the floor/storage area, can be added to that cost. On the street side, the shell damage extends two ribs into the side.

On the upside, aluminum is a soft metal, so the above frame damage is easier to deal with - just very pricey in parts.

I've seen here on the forums where folks cut their trailers down in length, and this looks like a perfect candidate for that kind of re-do. Cut off all the damaged stuff, fashion a new end cap, and you'd end up with a custom, short Excella- one of a kind, after a lot of work and expense. I'll bet the bids don't get anywhere near $3k.

e-bay Excella 500

Shortening the length of the trailer, will have an adverse effect on the tongue weight.

The portion of the trailer "behind" the axles, reduces the tongue weight.

If the shell is shortened by a few feet, the tongue weight would substancially increase.

To replace the damaged area, at least of what can be seen, would run perhaps at least $24,000.00 to repair, on a retail level.

The interior vinyl wall covered metal, has not been available for several years.

However, it would appear that this coach would make a nice long term project for someone that didn't care about it being original.
