Proper Diameter Rivets to Attach Shell to "C" Channel

I know I could tease an answer to this question this out of the archives. I originally researched this question a few years ago. I am picking the project back up after a few years, and I am not sure I trust my notes.

I am about to reattach the shell of a 1963 Bambi to a new "C" channel and belly wrap. In my notes, I have that the original exterior rivets are 1/8" diameter, but with a somewhat oversized head, when compared to current rivets.

The closest rivet currently available, that will match the original is a 5/32 diameter.

Can anybody confirm?

The shell was buck riveted to the "C" channel, using 1/8 diameter buck rivets, which do have a large head.

Go for it. No harm in using the 5/32 rivets.

Go to the vintage trailer supply and look they have them in bulk and if you need to go up in size then they have them also. Have a great day and are there some pictures? Maybe just a couple so we can get a good look at your girl (airstream). Thanks

I think I will go with 5/32 AD's to reattach the shell. They are low, somewhat obscure, and most are covered by the end wraps. Besides, there are probably a handful of people in the country that could tell them apart (and hopefully none here in Alaska) !

If I learn my chops, and get some confidence, may take on a much larger project for the front window replacement, and then exact match to the existing rivets would be more noticeable

Nice idea for front window(s).
adds to the "porthole ship" effect.
