If you shorten it, you'll have to use both end caps anyway. Why not replace the side and roof panels that are fire damaged and restore the trailer to its original size? I can't quite tell from your picture, but the fire-damaged panels seem to be the ones with no compound curves--fairly easy to replicate from flat sheet aluminum.

Steel tolerates heat much, much better than aluminum alloy does, so there's a chance your frame is OK, or at least easily repairable.

Sorry for your loss.

Thanks

Sentimental value is a funny animal. Not one inch of the 27' feet did I have or ask assistance with in recovering the cushions or replacing the copper tubing for the plumbing, propane lines, cutting the bamboo flooring, replacing the brake magnets & machining the brake drums, installing custom sound system.....the list goes on, ad nauseum. In short I made this AS mine and I loved taking it and my friends to places we couldn't ordinarily go and stay for extended stays. My favorite was making breakfast for a dozen hungover souls after a hearty night of hanging around a campfire, seeing their condition improve after cups of coffee and letting the really "hurt" ones lay around in the cold AC if they needed. What I'm trying to say is the AS was incremental in making really good memories. That's what I have now. I don't know if I have the tenacity or time to do another one, I'm spread pretty thin these days trying to run my business. Click image for larger version

Well man, that sucks.

As much as it pains me to say it, you are going to be better off starting over with a fresh one.

Who knows? Maybe you can find one that you don't need to do a ton of work on?

Insurance

The insurance company has already taken a stance of "we're not going to pay" which I fully expected. I'm going to fight this as I feel I'm a victim of foul play so the possibility of finding another may be a possibility. It certainly would make me feel better 'cause right now I feel like I've lost a good friend. I probably shouldn't get so attached to inanimate objects but I do.

If your auto (trailer) policy won't cover it, your business liability should.

What clause in the policy is the insurance company using to take that position? If they do end up not paying they don't get the trailer to salvage.

Looking at your trailer and the panels that could be saved you might want to keep and eye out for the many trailers that show up with tree damage.

Might be a starting point.

My guess.....

No comprehensive coverage on the trailer, and the business insurance will not pay on the trailer because it is personal property that is not specified on endorsed on the business policy.

My guess is that if the trailer had belonged to a customer it would be covered, but as personal property of the proprietor it is not.
