Power Plug Patch

I incurred some damage at my shore power plug and intend to fabricate a patch to cover and strengthen it. Has anyone done this and can comment? I plan to use 2024-T3 0.032". It will basically look like a picture frame, unless I decide to get creative.
1. Am I using the correct aluminum?
2. What type rivets are recommended, Brazier AN455, Mod Brazier AN456, Universal AN470?
3. What size rivets, dia, length, head?
I'll be using a ATS 3XPro rivet gun

The aluminum is fine. Vts has the rivets and size instructions.

Just curious.. how exactly are you streamers cutting your patches? Just aircraft tin snips? I would consider myself handy, but looking at all your artwork, I think I need practice!! Nice work to all of you!
Thanks for any advice.

I also am very interested in tools and techniques for cutting irregular shapes for patches especially complicated shapes.

I can only find partial sheets of 5052 aluminum locally. Is it suitable?

Roto Zip Spiral Saw

Has anybody used a Root Zip or other spiral saw to cut out shapes?

Big Patch for big dent

I have now changed my Airstream's name to the "Silver Lizard".

Since the patch covers upper and lower segments, both are compound curves, and I do not have access to an english wheel this is a 2 piece patch. Without an english wheel this is about the size limit from side to side without too much distortion to the sheet aluminum. Another option would be more pieces for the patch.

I have questions...
How did u match the double curve of the corner on the underlying patch?
English wheel?

I have these to replace/repair/cover....

I don't have an English wheel. There is a sheet metal shrinking tool out there. I think Harbor Freight has them. Did not use that either. Either would have been nice. With a tag board pattern I got an idea how the metal would bend. The width of the 2 part patch is about as wide as you can get without excessive buckling at the side edges. I had some minor bucking that I was able to mostly draw in with more rivets. Clecos help a lot to see how it is going to work and start to draw in the patch edges. Also used soft aluminum, but I don't know the grade.

I just paid a local metal fabrication concern to use their precision cutting tools for my patch. They have templates for all 50 states.

My patch in our 73 Argosy

Found a hole right beside the door after I stripped the Argosy - tried to make it look like it was a name plate or badge.
